St. Pete December Events

It’s that time of year again when time flies because we’re all having so much fun… or perhaps we’re just super busy. Either way, I think we can all agree that the month of December is a little extra special for us Floridians. While most of the rest of the country is dusting off their Winter wear, we’re just over here enjoying average temps of 75 degrees,  our “Florida Summer” if you will. Lately, the weather seems to be ever in our favor and I sure hope this continues as there are plenty of events, festive and otherwise, to look forward to in the coming weeks. Here is a list of St. Pete December events that I think are worth highlighting:

Uncorked Food, Wine and Beer Festival

Food. Wine. Beer. Beach. Does it get more December in Florida than that? The 6th annual Uncorked food and wine festival will take place on the white sands of Clearwater beach, next to the host hotel Wyndham Grand literally on the sand (their tagline is “Wine in your hand, toes in the sand” – cute right?) If you’re more of a beer lover (like myself), don’t fret because there will also be a number of craft brews to choose from.

Let’s keep in mind the main star of this event, the FOOD, all of which is presented some of the Bay area’s finest chefs. Foodies, wine lovers and beer lovers REJOICE. To be honest, the thought of being surrounded by so many like-minded people gives me the warm and fuzzies. Especially while celebrating some of the best things in life.

Since we all know how brutal the Florida sun can be, all the fun takes place under a giant 30,000 sq. ft tent on Saturday, December 2nd and Sunday, December 3rd from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. The ticket cost is $65 and includes a commemorative limited-edition wine glass, custom tote bag and most importantly access to the Grand Tasting Village for UNLIMITED tastings from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. People who purchase VIP access at $95 per ticket will also enjoy one-hour early access to the event and exclusive access to the Spirits Pool lounge at Wyndham Grand for hand-crafted cocktails… and swimming, duh. (Note: Tickets are valid for one day only.)

A portion of the proceeds will benefit USF Sarasota-Manatee School of Hospitality and Tourism Leadership so just another way to give back this holiday season. See you on the beach.

Pssst, here is a Groupon for discounted tickets.

Indie Market & Brocante Market

I really don’t remember what St. Pete was like before the Indie Market and Brocante Market graced us with their presence. They give myself and so many others something to look forward to each and every month.

With Christmas upon us, the December Indie Market(s) are a chance to give your loved ones local and hand-made gifts from the heart. I’m a big proponent of buying (eating, drinking) local and there is no better time than the present (pun intended.) Giving the gift of local while supporting our little St. Pete community has even more of an impact than the one your gift will (hopefully) leave. Plus, there’s Green Bench beer to give you a little extra pep in your step while shopping.

In addition to the regularly scheduled Indie Market this upcoming weekend, a special Indie Holiday Market & Party will be happening at Bandit Coffee on Sat, December 10th. Just another chance to get those local holiday gifts from some of the most talented makers out there.

The Brocante market is like walking into any antique store you’ve ever seen Joanna Gaines shop at on Fixer Upper. The warehouse is stacked full and pretty much everything is for sale. There are so many unique, antique finds from big items like furniture to small decor items. I scored a couple brass candlesticks ($19 for a set) last time I went. The December market is sure to have that little extra holiday decor your home needs. Plus, there’s more beer. 3 Daughters Brewery is directly across the street. Starting to see a trend here?

Indie Market:  Sat, December 2nd 11:00am – 4:00pm on Baum Ave in front of Green Bench Brewing – Check out the Facebook event here

Indie Holiday Market & Party:  Sat, Dec 9th 10:00am – 2:00pm at Bandit Coffee – More info to come on their Facebook event here

Brocante Market:  Sat, Dec 2nd  9:00am – 7:00pm and Sun, Dec 3rd  9:00am – 5:00pm – More info on their Facebook page here

Movies at Williams Park

The weather outside is frightful delightful and what better way to spend a Saturday evening than in a park watching a classic holiday movie hosted by Sunscreen Film Festival and Cinema Squatch events. You have two chances to post up at Historic Williams Park for a unique cinematic experience. Prior to the movie, there will be a craft market, themed holiday music, trivia and FOOD TRUCKS.

Elf is playing at on Saturday, December 2nd at 4pm. RSVP to the Facebook event here.

Home Alone is playing on Saturday, December 16th at 4pm. RSVP to the Facebook event here.

Since these movies pretty much speak for themselves, I think I’m done here. But remember, it’s BYOC (bring your own chair or blanket) and while there will be food trucks/vendors, packing a picnic with your favorite food and beverages is another good option.

Biking for Brews Lighted Bike Ride

This is one of my favorite holiday events of the year. Basically you decorate your bike with as many (battery operated) strands of lights as possible (and other Christmas decorations – be creative here) and tour the Old Northeast neighborhood looking at illuminated historic homes.

This is a highly anticipated event that draws hundreds so keep in mind you won’t be going very fast and you will need to practice some patience. The ride is approximately 3-4 miles and I don’t believe they have announced where the ride will begin or end. But, the idea is that after the bike ride is over, everyone meets up at a local bar for some holiday cheers-ing. It is hosted by Biking for Brews, afterall.

The lighted bike ride will take place on Friday, Dec 15th from 7:00pm to (approx.) 10:00pm.

A VERY Intermezzo Christmas!

Once I saw on the Gram that Intermezzo brought in a giant Christmas tree (14ft to be exact) for the holiday season, I was hoping dearly they would have some sort of holiday event. I was delighted (and not surprised) when I came across their event, A VERY Intermezzo Christmas! Some of St. Pete’s most awesome vendors will be set up, such as Stoned and Charming, BCA BBQ and one of the newest additions – Posie’s Flower truck (yessss!).

No party could exist at this coffee/cocktail bar without a Christmas-inspired cocktail menu, that you can now enjoy on the lighted patio. If you’re the competitive type, there will also be a tournament on the Bocce courts.

Christmas sweaters are encouraged, ugly or pretty (if there is such a thing).

A VERY Intermezzo Christmas! takes place on Friday, December 15th at 7:00pm and goes ’til midnight.

RSVP to the Facebook event here.
